Many look upon the 1950s as the "Glory Days" of Central High football. Throughout the entire decade, legendary coach John Gibson was at the helm for the Indians. Under his superb leadership, the Indians won 57 games and lost just 26 games during the 1950s. Central was Pony Express Conference Champs twice while earning the title "City Champs" eight times during the decade. It will forever be remebered as the heyday of Indian football.
